Colour Workshop
Project based workshop aimed at sixth formers, adults and fine art / design students, who would like to extend their understanding of colour. This course can be tailored to suit the time and space available, extending from an intensive colour workshop day, to a two week summer school. Concentrating on the perceptual colour work of Joseph Albers, students are encouraged to experiment and deepen their understanding of colour through studies and exercises looking at colour interaction, visual mixtures and how colour can create the impression of light.
Perceptual understanding is always relevant as it transcends all styles and time frames, it is never in or out of date. When graduates from Yale were asked how they most benefited from studies with Josef Albers, they invariably reply, "Albers taught me to see."
Sue Kennington has been teaching this workshop for the past 10 years.
